Last Week of August



  Last evening I stood on the edge of the Creek filming a small pool crowded with young bass and a couple young catfish when a broad-banded water snake swam into my left peripheral vision.  Leopard frogs and cricket frogs all over the banks.  Bite-size fish all between the banks.  No wonder a healthy water snake would retire to the weeds after dinner time. 



  As usual, two poor images of a lovely subject lie below.  This is our broad-banded water snake disappearing into the bankside vegetation.  These snakes are killed left and right around here by people as afraid to examine the fears of their hyperactive instincts as they are unwilling to consult an amature blog such as this to learn the difference between our only poisonous water snake and our several non-poisonous water snakes.  And they like to kill.  (It's another expression of fundamentalist-thinking. Watch the pattern.)




  Completely unrelated to snakes is an amazing piece of music inspired/created by tree rings.
